01 /What staircase geometry is

Staircase geometry is a set of mathematical calculations that determine the safety, ergonomics and overall dimensions of the structure. It is based on the average human stride of 60–64 cm.

All the key parameters are interrelated: the riser height and tread depth set the incline angle and walking comfort, the number of steps follows from the floor height, and the floor run and stringer length determine whether the staircase fits the room.
